About the Pastor
Pastor Jason McConnell was born and raised in Federalsburg as was his father and grandfather. He lived on Liberty Road, went to Federalsburg Elementary, played soccer at the Marina field, played baseball on many of the local fields, and graduated from Colonel Richardson High School. His wife, Ashley McConnell, is also from Federalsburg. She lived on Houston Branch Road, went to Federalsburg Elementary, and also graduated from Colonel Richardson High School. Jason and Ashley moved to Florida where they were married in 2007 and had two children. They came to faith in Christ about the same time in 2014 under the preaching of Roy Hargrave at Riverbend Community Church in Ormond Beach, FL where they were baptized and became members. In 2015 Jason, Ashley and the kids returned to the Maryland/Delaware area to help take care of an aging family. Both became members at Grace Baptist of Hurlock where they began to serve in the Children’s ministry. Jason started helping Pastor Talley with Grace’s youth group and later took on the ministry as Youth Leader and then Youth Pastor. Jason was licensed in 2023 and ordained into the Gospel Ministry by Grace Baptist Church in February of 2024. After his call to preach/pastor and before his ordination Jason felt the call to plant a church in his hometown of Federalsburg.
Jason believes he is called to reach the people of Federalsburg through serving and loving the community and the surrounding area in order to share the Gospel effectively with the lost and give hope to the poor and those that are hurt and struggling. Jason and Marshyhope Church desire to Shine Light, Show Love and Share Christ like Paul desired in 1 Thessalonians 2:8
1 Thessalonians 2:8- So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.
